Fountain Pens - heaven in your hand
	Fountain pens have tremendous appeal for a number of reasons. Many people find that their handwriting improves if they write with a fountain pen nib, and that they can write both effortlessly and fluidly ~ making fountain pens synonymous with good penmanship. For this reason, some are comfortable only with a fountain pen for everyday writing, while others reserve theirs for special use. With the impressive array of colours, finishes and shapes available today, fountain pens offer the perfect gift or treat for many an occasion. Fountain pen nibs are usually made of stainless steel or gold (14 or 18 karat). Stainless steel nibs are very hard-wearing, whilst gold nibs benefit from flexibility and resistance to corrosion. Gold nibs are tipped with a hard alloy (typically iridium). They great news is that fountain pen nibs really do settle in to their owner, and improve with age as they adjust to the writing style. If required, nibs can be obtained in fine or broad point sizes, although most are stocked with a medium nib as standard. Fountain pens can take either ink cartridges or converters but nowadays the standard international cartridge is most common. Cartridges are mess free and simple to replace (most high street stationers stock cartridges for major brands and coloured inks can be sometimes be purchased too). A few of our models are provided with both, but it is worth checking the pen description when ordering. Sometimes a converter can be purchased on special order, so please contact us if you would like us to check this for you.
